American Uranium has successfully completed a large-scale aquifer pumping test at its proposed Mine Unit 1 area within the Lo Herma uranium project in Wyoming.
The test, which commenced on 19 August 2026, was completed on or before 27 August, marking a key step toward confirming the viability of in-situ recovery at the site.
The large-scale test centered on the existing pumping well LH-MW-003, with four observation wells positioned 400 to 500 feet from the pumping well. Additional wells monitored adjacent geological units.
Petrotek Corporation is independently evaluating the results, which will inform wellfield design parameters for a targeted scoping study in the fourth quarter of 2026. The findings will also help define the next stages of hydrogeological work required for aquifer permitting.
Lo Herma holds a mineral resource estimate of 9.9 million pounds of uranium oxide.
In-situ recovery uses a network of underground wells to extract uranium without the heavy environmental damage associated with traditional open-pit or underground mining. The method typically lowers production costs and currently accounts for about 60% of global uranium production.
Bruce Lane, CEO and Executive Director of American Uranium, said the pump test represents a significant milestone for the project's advancement.
"With our updated 9.96Mlb resource completed and pump testing now underway, Lo Herma continues to advance toward development," Lane said. "The program will deliver key data for groundwater modelling, permitting and ISR wellfield design. Pump testing is another important milestone as we progress toward our targeted Q4 2026 Scoping Study."
The company previously confirmed a pumping rate of 20 gallons per minute in earlier 2025 tests. Specific flow rates or drawdown measurements from the newly completed large-scale test have not been disclosed.
American Uranium said the test results will support ongoing permitting activities, though no specific timeline for submitting permit applications has been provided.
