Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL), a subsidiary of Thor Explorations Ltd and operator of Nigeria’s first commercial gold mine, has reaffirmed its commitment to responsible mining practices at Nigeria Mining Week (NMW) 2026, where it served as a Diamond Sponsor.

The 11th edition of the event, held from October 12 to 14 at the Abuja Continental Hotel, brought together government representatives, investors, mining companies and technical experts under the theme “Unlocking Investment and Growth Through Partnerships.” The event was hosted by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria in partnership with PwC Nigeria.

SROL’s participation as a Diamond Sponsor underscores its position as a leading operator in Nigeria’s nascent gold mining sector. The company operates the Segilola Gold Mine in Osun State, the country’s first large-scale commercial gold mine, which began production in 2021 and has become a flagship for responsible industrial mining in Nigeria.

The event featured presentations, panel discussions and exhibitions showcasing opportunities across Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

SROL’s presence at the event comes as Nigeria’s mining sector continues to attract growing interest from international investors, with the Federal Government pursuing reforms aimed at boosting local value addition, improving geological data and strengthening regulation. The Segilola mine has been cited by government officials as evidence that Nigeria can develop a modern, responsible mining industry capable of contributing to economic diversification and job creation.
